Mike Furbush is a registered Landscape Architect and a certified Arborist, who has worked for the City of Newnan for the past 27 years. He is the director of the City’s Beautification Department which is responsible for the effective maintenance and enhancement of the City’s parks, public grounds, streetscapes, and limited road rights of way. As part of his overall responsibilities, Mike serves as the staff liaison for the City of Newnan’s Tree  and Parks Commission, and Newnan Youth Council. Mike takes great pleasure in being involved in numerous City projects including downtown streetscapes, First Avenue, Greenville Street, C. Jay Smith Park, and Lynch Park.

Mike grew up as an Air Force military brat with stops in California, Texas, and Delaware, which also included a three year stint in Japan. He has lived in Georgia since 1973. He graduated in 1984 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Georgia and gathered invaluable experience in the fields of landscape architecture and engineering up until 1998 when he came to work for the City of Newnan. 

Mike has lived in Sharpsburg, in the Thomas Crossroads area, for the past 37 years. Mike is an active member of Crossroads Church, where he has served in various capacities for the past 37 years. Mike has prayerfully participated in numerous church mission trips over the past 13 years, including trips to Italy, Brazil, and Belize. Mike also served as the past, long time, president of Sharpsburg Youth Baseball League and served as the Youth Baseball League Coordinator at Crossroads Church. He is also a seasoned baseball coach and umpire. His passions include God, his family, baseball, trees, and Italy in that order.
